Mini Cooper

The history of the MINI Cooper has been one that has seen the emergence of a racing car variation model on the MINI origins, through being one of the most iconic vehicles of the 1960s. More recently, the MINI Cooper has been part of the acquisition of the MINI Cooper. BMW and re-branded in the 2000s as a series of variants Cooper and Cooper S, which aligned with the success of the MINI hatch and other models. Looking at this story, it is possible to notice briefly how the MINI Cooper developed from a key collaboration between the British Motor Corporation and the Cooper Car Company, before the project was adapted for later models.

Origin of MINI Cooper

The origins of the MINI Cooper can be traced back to the development of the original MINI, BMC and Sir Alex Issigonis stylist in the 1950s. Responding to a fuel shortage, and the need for more efficient cars in the city, the MINI was developed as one of two doors, 4-cylinder car engine by BMC, and featured a monobloc shell. The first MINI, or Mark I, was tied to other BMC brand names, which included the Morris Minor and Austin, and was released in 1959. First Generation of MINI Cooper

The MINI Cooper was modeled as a special version of the first-generation MINI, with John Cooper of the Cooper Car Company recognizing the potential to create a motorsports version of the same car. This was released as the MINI Cooper and MINI Cooper S in 1961 and 1963. These cars featured 848cc engines for the Cooper 1071cc, and for the S type. New Models of MINI Cooper

Story Behind MINI Cooper

A Mini of 1959

It was not long before he rose to the heights of a cultural icon, being voted the second most influential car of the twentieth century by the prestigious Global Automotive Elections Foundation in 1999, second only to the Ford T. In 2000, the production of the Mini, which passed by many owners, was leaving to be desired and was interrupted. BMW, which already controlled its production since 1994 through the Rover Group, sold all factories and technologies, with the exception of the right to use the Mini brand. From there were born the Mini of the XXI century, that although officially only have the name of the English original, pulled much of its design and, especially, of the cultural heritage raised during the history of the Mini.
